Somewhat Daily Happenings of an Intern Architect

Yessssssss

I just had the greatest news on earth! Aaron Ruell and Jon Heder will be in Joplin at 7 pm next Friday!!!! That is only about an hour away!!!! I have got to find someone to go with me. That will be awesome.

Another fun tidbit of information. It cost us $30 to fill up our 11.4 gallon fuel tank in our car. I hate to know how much it costs the suv driving surburbanites. muuuaaaahhhahhhahaha. And this is another reason to live close to work, etc. I hope this is what it takes for people to wake up and realize we have to start using alternative energy sources. Let me ammend that - alternative renewable energy sources. It won't do us a bit of good if we keep using up the earths resources. It is very ironic that Bush is so ultra christian. However, if he is such a good christian, why isn't he being a steward of the earth? Shouldn't he (and others like him) be on the forefront of protecting the earth instead of destroying it? Curious. At least I know that I am doing a lot to help the situation. I try to be conscious of the products I buy and how they affect the earth. I, by no means, am perfect, but at least I'm trying.

Okay, off the soap box.

$71.01 was the total for the fill up yesterday of one 1998 Chevrolet Tahoe. Thank you Mr. Bush...

One would think that someone proclaiming to be a Christian would also be in support of keeping the environment clean and finding alternative resources so we don't completely screw everything up. Apparently they've forgotten that God created a clean earth, trees, water, air, animals, etc. It seems as though if you're in support of keeping those things clean you're considered a tree-hugging hippy that doesn't care about the rights of people. Then on the other side you have those who seemingly care about the rights of humans, but could care less about the environment. They don't realize that you can have things both ways. They make you choose between two things that shouldn't be separated.

*Steps down from the soap box.*

Dear SUV-Driving-Suburbanite:

You have no one to blame but yourself for the $71.01. You could have bought a less useless car.

Okay guys settle down.

I think it is unfortunate that we have a president who finds it more important to line his own pockets and the pockets of his friends in lieu of pushing for alternative energy sources. Fact is the hybrids are too expensive for the average Joe to buy. I can't afford one. I would love to have an suv -hybrid.

As consumers we need to push for affordable, alternative energy sources.

Jim,

There is no question some jobs and hobbies put a greater demand on our vehicles than others, but it's still a choice. If you've traveled just about anywhere outside the US, you see work and recreation getting done without the aid of monster vehicles. I know that's not all on you, but we have a culture that provides justifications for all kinds of absurd behavior. So, drive a big vehicle if you want, but don't try to convince everyone that it's necessary.

Good point, Jim, about mass transit.

I think one obstacle for biodiesel is the the auto industry refusing to honor warranties if motorists use the fuel.
